- Stavanger, Norway - Meet with Laerdal Global Health to learn about their organization and prepare for the needs exploration
- Kathmandu and Dhanghadi, Nepal; Patna, Bihar and Delhi, India - Visit training centers, observe labor and delivery, and talk to key government and NGO policy makers for training.
- Pune, India - Visit Laerdal's team in Pune in order to synthesize and prioritize the observed needs.
About Our Project
The Day of Birth Alliance is a collaboration between Johns Hopkins Center for Bioengineering Innovation and Design students, Jhpiego, and Laerdal Global Health that aims to address the crucial 24 hours after birth for mothers and their children in low resource settings. As masters students with CBID, we will be using the month of August to travel to these settings, observe common problems that occur with delivery, see the training centers for health workers, and gather valuable insights from the many stakeholders throughout the process. Through these travels, we will hope to identify the gaps in simulation-based training to address maternal health issues, particularly those for pre-service training. We will be traveling to:
